DIY: How to Sew a Dog Bow Tie with Interfacing and Elastic – Tutorial + Printable Dog Bow Tie Pattern

Dog Bow ties are one of my favorite things to make! Pups just look SOOOO cute in them! I have redesigned this pattern over and over for my handmade shop, Little Shop Joy, before finally creating one that’s pretty dope.

This bow tie pattern is unlike any you may find online because I’m sharing exactly how to make a bow tie that does not go flat and actually stays in place! No more flat bows that you have to constantly fluff up or sideways bows with that little piece of velcro in the middle. I’m going to how you how to make a really sturdy dog bowtie with elastics that will not go flat that stays in place!

How to make Dog Bowtie with Elastic Youtube Tutorial

Fabric

Sewing Machine

Scissors

Interfacing Fleece

Elastic

Iron (optional)

How to make a Dog Bowtie with Elastic

This would have been hard to describe so I included pics!

You can also follow along with my Youtube Video

Bring the bottom piece up halfway.
Insert interfacing here
Fold down top piece
Bring in the right side to the center of the bow
Bring in left side to the bow.
Place Elastics on top
Sew
The bow is coming together!
I forgot to flip it over to show you which side to sew on this part.. Sew the part that I’m holding.
Turn the tube right side out and slide over your bow and that’s it!
