I remember when I first started sewing, I sucked. I broke needles every single time I tried to practice, my lines weren’t straight and I couldn’t understand how to use sewing patterns to create something buttttt I wanted to learn how to start sewing dog bowties and bandanas so I knew I had to keep pushing through and I’m glad I did. All the broken needles helped me quickly learn how to stop breaking them (LOL) and all the other little obstacles made me a better sew-er (- well, seamstress?). All that practice made me soo much better quicker.
No one is born an expert at whatever they aspire to do – We all have to start at the beginning as a beginner who don’t know it works or how it was done. We just have the desire to do it so we try it and figure it out along the way. Of course, a bunch of mistakes were made and each mistake can be seen as guide and leaders helping us to get better. The mistakes often give us the needed practice so that we can get better and add that notch to our belt.
Today, if you are feeling frustrated or annoyed for not being able to catch on to something as quickly as you’d like or you feel like you just aren’t getting it, take a few deep breaths and remind yourself to be gentle with yourself. Remember and celebrate what you know already and then continue to be patient with yourself because you are doing great. You are doing the best you can and that is more than enough- it takes some time- there’s no set timeline as to when you have to have this learned and done. You are allowed to learn and do stuff on your time. Cos there’s no better time than yours. 🙂
You are doing sooo great. Just keep going.
xoxo,
Jackie
