4 Zero Waste Swaps to Start Your Zero Waste Journey

4 Zero Waste Swaps to Start Your Zero Waste Journey

Soo I noticed that we take out the trash a lotttttt and it made me wonder where all this trash goes? I started thinking deeper about the long term effect of all this trash on our environment and decided that I would try to waste less. I don’t know if I will totally be able to do ‘zero waste’ butt I figured wasting less would still be a great start! Plusss, I’ll be saving money by not having to constantly keep these products in stock. Sounds like a win-win situation!

Here’s 5 Zero Waste Swaps that helped me start my journey

Paper Towels for UnPaper Towels – This was a bigggg one for me. I noticed that we were going through about 8 rolls of paper towels a week! I decided to swap them for these unpaper towels. I got three different kinds that had different fabric to try to see which one I would like best. These are the ones I got and I love them all!

Plastic Bags– We use plastic bags for everything so I had them in every size: snack, sandwich with the zip, sandwich with the fold, freezer, etc! I swapped our plastic bags for these reusable bags andddd of course Stasher! I loveee Stasher bags – they are sooo sturdy and seal perfectly to keep your food fresh.

.

Plastic Bottles– I stopped buying cases of water and I tried to taking empty jugs to Walmart and fill them up for like .40 cents. I quickly got tired of carrying them jugs every week so I installed a water filter on my faucet. It was really easy to install! It just snaps right on and you have two kinds of water: filtered and unfiltered. The filter is replaced about every 4 months. Then, I got all of us have a few stainless steel bottles that we can fill up with water.

Menstrual Maxi Pads – I use quite a few pads during my period so I swapped my Always for these reusable menstrual maxi pads. I purchased two different ones: one with a black inside and the other has a gray. Both work really well. They are absorbent and comfy! You do not feel that ‘gush’ feeling.

These zero waste swaps are good for the environment and your wallet! Do you have any zero waste suggestions for me? I would love to hear them especially if you have one for replacing toilet paper. LOL!

Sending you lots of love and hugs,

Jackie
